I have suffered from RSI (tenosynovitis) for many years now and have tried many type of mice and mice substitutes. I think I may have hit on a winning combination with these two:
A personal wrist rest from WristDonut, see: Wristdonut.com
and
A vertical mouse from Anker see: ianker.com
You can buy both from Amazon.
Don't throw away your old mouse, remember that the R in RSI stands for repetitive so swapping around from time to time should be good. There was no conflict between my existing Logitech wireless mouse and the Anker Mouse so swapping is easy.
I use the wrist rest when I feel I need it but it's especially good with the Anker mouse.
I will add that I have no associations with either company, but do own both products.
